Relating Vs Relationship..

The most wonderful places in the World are “In Someone’s Thoughts; in Someone’s Prayers and in Someone’s Heart”

As individuals and as a society we learn to focus more on the quality of our “relating” rather than on the stability of our “relationships”.

Relating is a verb… Relationship is a noun.

To Relate is to be able to understand a situation or someone’s feelings because you have experienced something similar yourself: it also means – to be connected with something, or to show that something is connected with something else; make or show a connection between; feel sympathy for or identify with; give an account of; narrate…… Relationship most often refers to: Interpersonal relationship, a strong, deep, or close association or acquaintance between two or more people; it is the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected; relationship may be by birth or marriage (parent-child, husband-wife) or can also be the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other (landlord-tenant, employer-employee).

For some, romantic relationships are the most meaningful element of life, providing a source of deep fulfillment. The ability to have a healthy, loving relationship is not innate. A great deal of evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship begins in infancy, in a child’s earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant’s needs for food, care, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Those relationships are not destiny, but they appear to establish patterns of relating to others. Failed relationships happen for many reasons, and the failure of a relationship is often a source of great psychological anguish. Most of us have to work consciously to master the skills necessary to make them flourish.

Relating is alive, active, demanding full responsiveness and attention. .. Relationships tend to be dull, static, defined, dead, demanding no real attention until they threaten to change or fall apart in some way.

Let us drop the fascination with defining and focus more on refining this living energy of connection between us. This energy is love, it is care, it is what lights up our whole heart, brain and life.

Similar to how we pay attention to regularly water and nurture a plant so that it grows by itself, for human beings too we must pay regular attention to how we relate – listen, speak, behave – our relationships shall take care of themselves.

We must always pray to God to Grant us the inspiration and the power of implementation for a deeply fulfilling life that enables the timeless happiness of all living beings – human as also plants and animals.
